Rio Blanco National Park, located within the Maya Mountain Forest Reserve in Toledo, is one of southern Belize’s most scenic and accessible natural attractions. The park’s highlight is a breathtaking waterfall that stretches 100 feet wide and drops 20 feet into a cool, inviting pool—perfect for a refreshing swim. A rope bridge suspended across the river offers spectacular views and adds an adventurous element to your visit. The surrounding sub-tropical wet forest is lush and vibrant, offering nature lovers a chance to immerse themselves in a rich ecosystem brimming with flora and fauna.

Beyond its natural beauty, Rio Blanco National Park holds deep community significance. It was established and is jointly managed by the villages of Santa Cruz and Santa Elena to protect the area’s ecological and cultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking forest trails, birdwatching, and exploring nearby caves, all while possibly spotting rare wildlife like jaguars or river otters. The park’s commitment to conservation and community involvement makes it not only a beautiful destination, but a meaningful one as well.
